The Assistant Driller is responsible to the Driller for assisting with the supervision of the assigned work.
Responsibilities
To ensure a full understanding of any assigned task and on how the task should be completed
* To assist in the operation and maintenance of the MODU's drilling equipment as required by the Driller, Toolpusher or Rig Superintendent on duty
* To assist in maintaining well control at all times as outlined in the Company Well Control Policy statement and detailed in the Company Well Control Manual
* To communicate effectively with drilling personnel, motivating them to perform the tasks required of them with the highest regard for their own and other person's safety
* To communicate effectively with other members of the drilling staff to ensure a safe, efficient "handover" of operations
* To assist in maintaining accurate records as required by legislation, Company policies and procedures, and operator's requirements
* To participate in pre-tour and weekly safety meetings
* To perform and supervise the performance of maintenance in line with drilling equipment planned maintenance schedules
* To attain and maintain a good working knowledge of safe operating procedures as set out in the Company's procedures manuals and the Global Excellence Management System (GEMS)
* To assist the Rig Superintendent and Toolpusher in the maintenance of the rig procedures manuals so these are updated to reflect new equipment and practices
* To assist, when required by the OIM, Rig Superintendent, Toolpusher, or Driller in the supervision or performance of other tasks when the MODU is not engaged in drilling operations
Requirements
* At least 18 years of age
* Possess a valid Supervisors' Well Control Certificate
* 1 or more years as a conventional Assistant Driller
* 3 or more years’ of Drill Crew experience
